Indian government forms panel for policy on IPTV in India
In order to regulate the framework of policy for Internet Protocol TV in India, the government has formed an Inter-Ministerial Group comprising of Telecom, IT and Information and Broadcasting secretaries. Currently there is no regulatory framework in India for IPTV and operators including MTNL has launched the service and others are conducting tirals. IPTV is a maor threat to DTH TV (Direct-To-Home TV) and CAS (Conditional Access System, because if its very nature to provide tripple play facilities - voice, broadband data and TV.
