Bigtree Entertainment launched bookmyshow.com - a ticketmaster clone
Bigtree Entertainment, part of the TV18 group of companies, has setup an online movie ticket booking website called Bookmyshow. They have covered 27 cities so far and include bookings to - Adlabs, PVR, Fun, Inox, DT Cinemas, Wave, SRS, M2K, Prasadz, Chanakya, 24 Karat, Movietime and Velocity. Payment can be made online via credit card and there is a Rs 15 “convenience charge”. The model has been highly successful in USA with Ticketmaster.com picking up the major chunk of the market. Ticketmaster also provides bookings for Music, Sports, Arts & Theater and family entertainment (circuses). Bookmyshow plans to move into the same areas, starting with theatres.
Visitors to the site can order online and the ticket is sent to them via SMS on their mobile. There is no requirement to print a ticket or even spend time registering reports Business of Cinema.
