FutureBazaar.com to setup Internet Kiosks to boost sales
Futurebazaar.com seems to have struck the right chord with its kiosk initiative. As a pilot experimental project to asses the marketplace, they placed Internet Kiosks within their retail stores in some key cities like Mumbai, Hyderabad and Delhi. Anyone could walk into the store and browse the electronic catalog using the Internet ebabled kiosk. Once they identified the product they wanted, a sales person would assist them with their order - and would login to the website to create the order and eventually have it delivered to the customers door step. It seems that the per-square-foot projected annualized sales for these kiosks has touched around Rs 20,000 as compared to a typical figure of Rs 8000 in a retail store like BigBazaar. FutureBazaar plans to expand and setup in various metros and tier 2 cities - to service people who do not have access to PCs or the Internet.
