The Desi video sharing scene
Business Standard reports that the problem with Indian video sites is that they contain a lot of copyright infringing content uploaded by users. This infact, is a global problem. Funny ads, bollywood songs etc are being uploaded and shared amongst users. Also, since only 3 million of the 25 million Internet users are on a broadband connection - we are still far away from video sites becoming mainstream. This has resulted in almost 8 of the 20 video sharing sites that cropped up in 2007 to already shut down. Many of the desi video sharing sites that survive, are doing so because of the adult content found on them.
